How to play Monument Valley?
- Basic Idea
- Guide Princess Ida to the glowing exit in each stage by tapping where to move and manipulating the environment to create a path. Simple controls, but the world loves to cheat your eyes 😉.
- Tap to Move
- Tap on the ground tiles to make Ida walk there. If she doesn’t move, the path is blocked or not yet connected. Try nearby tiles and watch how she reacts.
- Drag to Rotate and Slide
- Touch and drag handles, platforms, or wheels. Some structures rotate, some slide. Move them until paths visually line up, even if they look impossible. If it looks connected, the game treats it as connected 🤯.
- Play with Perspective
- Change the camera angle by swiping the screen. New paths appear when platforms overlap or edges meet in just the right view. Trust the eyes, not real-world physics.
- Use Buttons and Switches
- Step on floor switches or stand near totems to activate bridges, lifts, or rotations. If nothing happens, try leaving Ida standing on a switch while moving other parts of the level.
- Follow the Totem Friend
- In some levels, a cute totem joins the journey 🐣. Drag or tap to move it, use it as a bridge or elevator, and reunite Ida and the totem to progress.
- Explore and Don’t Rush
- If stuck, slowly rotate and slide everything that moves. Watch how paths connect for a second as pieces pass each other. There’s no penalty, so experiment freely and enjoy the scenery ✨.
