How to play Stardew Valley?

  • Basic Idea
  • Start with a small farm and a few tools, then slowly grow crops, animals, friendships, and money. Each in-game day has limited time and energy, so planning matters 😄.
  • Learn the Controls
  • Use the joystick or touch to move. Tap tiles to interact: swing tools, plant seeds, talk to people, open chests. Use the bag icon to manage inventory and equip tools in the hotbar.
  • Start Your First Day
  • Clear weeds, rocks, and branches near the house with basic tools. Open the mailbox for quests, then visit Pierre’s store in town to buy starter seeds before it closes ⏰.
  • Plant and Water Crops
  • Select seeds, tap tilled soil to plant, then use the watering can on each tile 💧. Water daily until harvest. Check the calendar in town so crops match the current season.
  • Manage Energy and Time
  • Every action uses energy; watch the green bar. Eat food to recover or sleep in bed before 2:00 AM. Avoid passing out outside, or some gold might be lost.
  • Explore Town and Mines
  • Talk to villagers daily to raise hearts, accept quests on the bulletin board, and unlock cutscenes. After getting the mine access, bring a weapon, food, and a few torches for deeper levels.
  • Upgrade and Expand
  • Use earned gold to buy better tools, more seeds, and animal barns 🐔. Upgrade tools at the Blacksmith, complete Community Center bundles, and slowly design a dream farm layout that fits a preferred playstyle.
