How to play Tetris®?
- Basic Idea
- Move and rotate falling Tetriminos to create full horizontal lines. Completed lines disappear, score increases, and the field stays clear. When blocks stack to the top, the game ends. Simple rules, but decisions must be fast and smart 💡
- Start a Game
- Open the app, choose a mode (like Marathon or quick play), and press Start ▶️. The playfield appears as a tall vertical grid, and the first Tetrimino begins to fall from the top.
- Move Left and Right
- Use on-screen arrow buttons or swipe gestures to slide the falling piece left or right. Adjust position early while the piece is high; movement becomes harder when it gets close to other blocks.
- Rotate the Tetriminos
- Tap the rotate button (or swipe up, depending on controls) to spin the piece. Try different rotations to fit the shape into narrow gaps or to complete a line. Quick rotations near the bottom are key to clutch saves 🤯
- Drop Faster
- Hold the down button for a soft drop to speed up the descent while keeping control. Some versions also offer a hard drop button that instantly places the piece at the lowest possible spot—great for fast scoring, risky if misused ⚡
- Clear Lines and Score
- Arrange pieces so they form a full horizontal line with no gaps. That line disappears, everything above falls down, and points are earned. Clearing multiple lines at once (like a Tetris with four lines) gives big bonus points 🎯
- Manage Speed and Plan Ahead
- As time passes, pieces fall faster. Watch the “next piece” preview to plan placements before the current block lands. Keep the stack low, avoid messy holes, and leave a clean well on one side for powerful multi-line clears. Stay calm when the speed ramps up and enjoy the rush 😏
